This advert is from the late 1950s/early ‘60s. The Ritz Ballroom (1955-68) was on the Ocean Beach Fun Fair site. The Ritz was not a big place, nevertheless it could accommodate about 350 couples comfortably and more at a squeeze. The resident orchestra was led for the longest time by trumpeter Duke Gordon (Gordon Ballardfrom Kent). The size of the orchestra tended to fluctuate over the years but the name 'Duke Gordon's Ritz Showband’ remained the same and is branded on the memory of many Rhyl dancers.
