This advert dates from the late 1950s/early ‘60s when there were fun fairs at Marine Lake and Ocean Beach, both operated by the company Rhyl Amusements Ltd and managed by Eric Hughes. You crossed from one fair to the other via ‘the walk’ which was a line of stalls running parallel with Sydenham Avenue; the combined sites added up to 7 acres of big fun. On summer evenings I still hear in my mind’s ear the waves of synchronised screaming from the big dippers.--
