Correspondence about skating continues to roll in. Many readers remember this particular activity fondly and pose unanswerable questions such as, ‘Why doesn’t Rhyl have a roller skating rink anymore?’The larger picture above is from Rhyl History Club Community Archive and shows the rink on the promenade c.1948-49, shortly after it opened. The smaller picture is a detail which shows that among the skaters are a couple of soldiers. World War Two ended in 1945 but National Service, i.e. compulsory call-up for military training continued until 1960.
