SOUTH OF FRANCE

South of France, Paddling pool, ColiseumSouth of France, Beach SandsThe 1960s Rhyl promenade picture above (TOP) appears in another context on this blog. The row of sheltered seats in the foreground was a popular suntrap nicknamed the ‘South of France’. From Gaynor Williams comes the larger picture showing it under construction. Note the absence of the paddling pool and Coliseum Theatre. The Coliseum opened in 1921, so I would guess that Gaynor's picture dates from around 1910.
