CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Baths HotelThe building shown above stood on the promenade walkway opposite Bath Street, where part of the Events Arena is now. The building started life as the Baths Hotel, one of Rhyl’s very earliest hotels; it was a recommended place to stay in the 1820s.

By 1873 the hotel was derelict. It was taken by a children’s convalescent home known as the Children’s Hospital which had outgrown its previous premises in East Parade. (Eventually the Children’s Hospital became part of the present Royal Alexandra Hospital which opened in 1902.)

The photograph is from the collection of Gaynor Williams.
