ANTHONY ROBERT MARSHALL
Anthony Robert Marshall was the name of the Rhyl lifeboat that served from 1949 to 1968. This was the lifeboat that in 1962 rescued the Vickers Armstrong VA-3-001 hovercoach or hovercraft (VA-3 for short) which blew off its moorings in a gale.
People on shore helped to secure the VA-3 to the promenade railings. Everyone concerned received official thanks for the operation, especially the coxswain Harold Campini who received Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s medal for gallantry.
