DRILL HALL

A couple of weeks ago I took this picture of the Drill Hall in John Street with the knowledge and consent of the Colour Sergeant in charge. (Note to younger photographers: to be on the safe side, please don’t take pictures of an establishment connected with any branch of the military without first obtaining permission.)

I love the clean, angular look of the Drill Hall building; it has a little decorative work but not too much. The plaque above the main entrance says: Territorial Drill Hall AD 1914; that was the year World War One began. These days the building is a cadet centre and Army careers information office, tel: (01745) 334244.
