EAST PARADE

At more or less the same time, these two old postcards of East Parade landed here at Jones Towers. The one at the top is postmarked 1915 and was sent from Hilda in Rhyl to Miss A. Smith in Stoke-on-Trent. It says, “Dear Annie, I am enjoying myself very much. The weather is lovely. I hope you will catch all the mice before we return.”

The colour postcard is unused and undated. Close inspection has revealed a Mobiloil advertisement; that name became a registered trade mark in 1920, so it may be a 1920s picture. The bus has a destination board saying Marine Lake Pleasure Park. Yes, in those days routes could be very local.
