GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

Here are some hard-to-find postcards of Botanical Gardens, Grange Road, sent by Ann Hayes who grew up in Rhyl in the 1950s. Ann says, “I've been buying cards of the gardens for a long time as some of my most vivid memories are of playing there. It wasn’t far from our house in Rhuddlan Road; my sisters and I would go there a lot. There were swings, a seesaw, roundabout and a slide. We also went there to ride on the cycle track – we used to love that as a special treat. My Dad (Les Hayes) used to play cricket for MANWEB on the playing field there and we enjoyed the tea after. So the gardens are quite special for me.”
