AGE OF STEAM

engines locomotivesengine locomotiveHere are some Rhyl railway photographs sent by John Powell. Of the one at the top John says, “The train has terminated at Rhyl and is pushing the stock into carriage sheds to be serviced, mid-1950s.” Next one: “London to Holyhead train entering Rhyl station, 1955.”

“The wider picture was taken near the H-Bridge. The train was an excursion from the Birmingham area, and is pictured propelling its coaches into the sidings where they will be cleaned before the return journey. The engine will then go on to the loco shed (on left) to be turned, serviced, and made ready for the trip back. Notice the train spotters on the wall. 1950s.”

More transport and other items have been received from John and shall appear here in due course.
