HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

RhylIn last week’s local press came news that Denbighshire County Council and Welsh Assembly Government have contracted consultants called DPP Shape to draw up a Rhyl Masterplan for the refurbishment of some streets west of the town centre.

The area appears to include: Abbey Street, Aquarium Crescent, Aquarium Street, Bedford Street, Butterton Road, Crescent Road, Crescent Square, Edward Henry Street, Emlyn Grove, Gordon Avenue, Gronant Street, Hope Place, John Street, Maude Street, River Street, Vaughan Street, Water Street, part of Wellington Road and part of West Parade.

The masterplan is not just about buildings; it is expected to address the lack of green spaces, the high density of population (too many houses of multiple occupation) and related social problems. The consultants DPP Shape are a Manchester company with offices in South Wales and elsewhere. I have drawn their attention to this blog in the hope that it may be of some help.
