The old photograph above shows the White Lion Commercial Hotel, High Street, circa 1908. To the left of the hotel is Vaughan Terrace, one of a network of streets and alleys in the vicinity at the time. To the right is the old town hall (probably a shop at the time, later a pub). The photo is from Gaynor Williams.The colour picture was taken a week or two ago by Yours Truly showing that the Jobcentre is where the White Lion used to be, and showing the old town hall is still in existence (now an adult arcade and betting shop operated by Mark Webber of Webbers Leisure).
